Tense
Tense শব্দের অর্থ কাল। সঠিকভাবে ইংরেজী লেখার প্রধান শর্ত হলো Tense. তাই Tense কে ইংরেজী ভাষার প্রান, Soul of english language বলা হয়।
Tense প্রধানত তিন প্রকার।
- Present Tense
- Past Tense
- Future Tense
Present Tense
Verb এর কার্য যখন বর্তমান সময়কে নির্দেশ করে তখন তাকে Present Tense বলে।
Example:
- She sings a song.
- The boy is Playing football.
কার্যের সময়কে আরও স্পষ্ট করে বুঝাবার জন্য Present tense কে আবার চার ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়।
- Present indefinite tense.
- Present Continuous tense.
- Present perfect tense.
- Present perfect continuous tense.
Present indefinite tense
যে Tense দ্বারা বর্তমানে কোন কাজ করা, অভ্যাস বা চিরসত্য বুঝায় তাকে Present indefinite tense বলে।
চেনার উপায়: করি, কর, করিস, করে, করেন, যাই, যাও, যান, যাস, পড়, পড়ে, পড়েন,পড়িস, ঘুমায়, ঘুমাও, ঘুমান ইত্যাদি কোন বাক্যের মধ্যে থাকলে তা Present indefinite tense হবে।
Rule: Subject এর পর মূল verb বসে। Subject Third person, singular number হলে verb এর শেষে s/es যোগ করতে হয়।
Structure : Subject + মূল verb এর present form + object.
Present indefinite tense এর উদাহরণ :
- The sun rises in the east.
- He goes to bed at ten o’clock everyday.
- Ramadan begins in the next month.
- Muslims go to mosque on friday.
- Shakespeare says, Life is a tale by an idiot.
- If he wants, i will help him.
- Unless you read seriously, you will not do well.
- I shall wait until you come back.
- As soon as the rain stops, we shall start Playing.
করি (I do)
আমি প্রতিদিন পড়াশোনা করি।
I study every day.
আমি নিয়মিত কাজ করি।
I work regularly.
আমি সকালবেলা ব্যায়াম করি।
I exercise in the morning.
আমি সত্য কথা বলার চেষ্টা করি।
I try to speak the truth.
আমি সময়মতো কাজ করি।
I do my work on time.
কর (You do – imperative / habitual)
তুমি নিয়মিত অনুশীলন কর।
You practice regularly.
তুমি ভালো কাজ কর।
You do good work.
তুমি প্রতিদিন পড়াশোনা কর।
You study every day.
তুমি নিজের দায়িত্ব কর।
You perform your duties.
তুমি সত্য কথা বলার চেষ্টা কর।
You try to speak the truth.
করিস (You do – informal habitual)
তুই প্রতিদিন কী করিস?
What do you do every day?
তুই কেন দেরি করিস?
Why do you get late?
তুই ভালো কাজ করিস।
You do good work.
তুই সময় নষ্ট করিস না।
You do not waste time.
তুই মন দিয়ে পড়িস।
You study attentively.
করে (He/She does)
সে নিয়মিত কাজ করে।
He works regularly.
সে সত্য কথা বলে।
He speaks the truth.
সে মনোযোগ দিয়ে পড়ে।
He studies attentively.
সে সবাইকে সম্মান করে।
He respects everyone.
সে সময়মতো অফিসে যায়।
He goes to office on time.
করেন (He does – respectful)
তিনি নিয়মিত অফিসে কাজ করেন।
He works in the office regularly.
স্যার আমাদের গণিত পড়ান।
Sir teaches us mathematics.
বাবা পরিবারের দায়িত্ব পালন করেন।
Father takes care of family responsibilities.
শিক্ষক ছাত্রদের সাহায্য করেন।
The teacher helps students.
তিনি সত্য ও ন্যায়ের পথে চলেন।
He follows the path of truth and justice.
যাই (I go)
আমি প্রতিদিন স্কুলে যাই।
I go to school every day.
আমি সকালে হাঁটতে যাই।
I go for a walk in the morning.
আমি শুক্রবার মসজিদে যাই।
I go to the mosque on Friday.
আমি অফিসে সময়মতো যাই।
I go to office on time.
আমি ছুটিতে গ্রামে যাই।
I go to the village on holidays.
যাও (You go)
তুমি প্রতিদিন স্কুলে যাও।
You go to school every day.
তুমি সকালে বাজারে যাও।
You go to the market in the morning.
তুমি নিয়মিত ক্লাসে যাও।
You attend classes regularly.
তুমি অফিসে দেরি করে যাও না।
You do not go to office late.
তুমি বিকেলে মাঠে যাও।
You go to the field in the afternoon.
যান (He goes – respectful)
তিনি প্রতিদিন অফিসে যান।
He goes to office every day.
স্যার সময়মতো ক্লাসে যান।
Sir goes to class on time.
বাবা সকালে মসজিদে যান।
Father goes to the mosque in the morning.
তিনি নিয়মিত বাজারে যান।
He goes to the market regularly.
তিনি কাজে মনোযোগ দিয়ে যান।
He goes to work attentively.
পড় (You read / study)
তুমি প্রতিদিন বই পড়।
You read books every day.
তুমি সকালে পত্রিকা পড়।
You read the newspaper in the morning.
তুমি মন দিয়ে পড়।
You study attentively.
তুমি লাইব্রেরিতে বসে পড়।
You study sitting in the library.
তুমি পরীক্ষার জন্য পড়।
You study for the exam.
পড়ে (He/She reads / studies)
সে প্রতিদিন নিয়ম করে পড়ে।
He studies regularly.
সে লাইব্রেরিতে বসে পড়ে।
He studies in the library.
সে রাতে দেরি করে পড়ে।
He studies late at night.
সে পরীক্ষার আগে বেশি পড়ে।
He studies more before exams.
সে মনোযোগ দিয়ে পড়ে।
He studies attentively.
পড়েন (He reads / teaches – respectful)
স্যার প্রতিদিন ক্লাসে পড়েন।
Sir teaches in class every day.
তিনি কলেজে ইংরেজি পড়েন।
He teaches English in college.
শিক্ষক ছাত্রদের ভালোভাবে পড়েন।
The teacher teaches students well.
তিনি নিয়মিত পড়ান।
He teaches regularly.
তিনি সহজভাবে বিষয় পড়েন।
He explains lessons simply.
পড়িস (You read – informal)
তুই প্রতিদিন কত ঘণ্টা পড়িস?
How many hours do you study every day?
তুই নিয়মিত পড়িস।

তুই কেন মন দিয়ে পড়িস না?

তুই পরীক্ষার আগে ভালো করে পড়িস।

ঘুমায় (He/She sleeps)
সে রাতে তাড়াতাড়ি ঘুমায়।
He sleeps early at night.
সে দুপুরে একটু ঘুমায়।
He takes a short nap in the afternoon.
সে ক্লান্ত হলে ঘুমায়।
He sleeps when tired.
সে নিয়মিত সময়মতো ঘুমায়।
He sleeps on time regularly.
সে শান্তিতে ঘুমায়।
He sleeps peacefully.
ঘুমাও (You sleep)
তুমি রাতে তাড়াতাড়ি ঘুমাও।
You sleep early at night.
তুমি দুপুরে ঘুমাও।
You sleep in the afternoon.
তুমি ক্লান্ত হলে ঘুমাও।
You sleep when you feel tired.
তুমি মোবাইল রেখে ঘুমাও।
You sleep after putting away the mobile.
তুমি প্রতিদিন সময়মতো ঘুমাও।

ঘুমান (They / He sleep – respectful)
বাবা-মা রাতে তাড়াতাড়ি ঘুমান।
Parents sleep early at night.
বৃদ্ধরা নিয়মিত ঘুমান।
Elderly people sleep regularly.
তারা দুপুরে একটু ঘুমান।
They take a short nap in the afternoon.
রোগীরা বেশি বিশ্রাম নেন ও ঘুমান।
Patients take more rest and sleep.
সবাই রাতে শান্তিতে ঘুমান।
Everyone sleeps peacefully at night.
